SOLD This is an excellent example of a floating card compass made by well known American maker R Merrill & Sons New York in the last half of 19th century. It is a small version of the nautical compasses used by sailors on a small vessel. This particular piece has a heavy brass case and wonderful paper floating card. Dimensions: 75 mm diameter and 35 mm height.
