SOLD Featured below is a rare example of genuine pocket sextant or "box sextant" used by explorers for navigation, surveying and military. This piece was made in the first half 1900s by the well-known scientific instrument maker Salmoiraghi Milano. Angelo Salmoiraghi was the lead engineer for the well known scientifique instrument maker Filotecnica Milano Italy. The sextant comes with a retractable telescopic sight that has a dark sun filter (green painted brass cylindrical body), including several fine adjustments: magnifying glass, mirror, adjustable green and red filters and a silvered vernier scale with very fine markings. Some wear and tear present due to the age. Dimensions: 70 mm diameter and 40 mm height.Will make an excellent addition to your collection of early navigational instruments.
