SOLD Featured below is a rare example of genuine pocket sextant or "box sextant" used by explorers for navigation. This piece was made in the early 1900s  by the well-known scientific instrument maker Stanley from London. The sextant comes with a  (anodized brass cylindrical body), including several fine adjustments: index arm, magnifying  glass, two mirrors, adjustable green and red filters and a silvered vernier scale with very fine markings. The original leather case is in excellent condition for the age. The small retractable telescope  was lost over time.  However the sextant is functional the reading can be taken through the adjustable peephole.  Dimensions: 70mm diameter and 40mm height.
