Featured below is a rare example of genuine sextant used by explorers for navigation on the sea. This is an excellent brass 7 inch radius sextant made by Pioneer Instrument Division of Bendix Aviation Corporation New Jersey USA in 1940 for US Navy. The device has most of the parts in place: a silvered scale divided 0-140, index arm with micrometer drum scale and tangent-screw with clamp, one telescope, four sun shades, three horizon shades, one index and one horizon mirror, and a strong wooden handle and a nice mahogany case. The case has some wear and tear due to the age.
