This is a nice example of surveyors or miners compass made in France. The device is equipped with a side locking system for the compass, a silvered dial, a compass needle rested on a red stone, two sighting vanes and staff mount. The compass case is made of brass with some minimal wear and tear. Dimensions of the compass 82 mm diameter and 18 mm height. The device comes in a excellent wood case with an inscription on the top “ARMY” and American Eagle, the dimensions are 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 x 2 1/2 Excellent display item.
