Zero Stock-Antique Single Draw Nautical Mahogany Telescope Made by J. Smith Kobenhven Denmark
SOLD- Rare example of an early 1800’s nautical ships telescope signed by J. Smith Kobenhaven from Denmark No. 233. The telescope is made of brass and mahogany. The mahogany wood barrel is made by two joint pieces put together length wise. A early technique used by telescope makers in 18th and early 19th century. The condition is very good and has sharp image (42 object lenses). This is a fully functional telescope in very good condition with smooth draw action. Some wear and tear due to the age, the main mahogany barrel has some extra cracks and the two brass bezels are missing some material near the locking screws. Dimensions: 35 inches open, 21 1/2 inches closed. Excellent display item.
