SOLD Fine example of antique sterling silver (935) and blue enamel Lorgnette made in Germany or Austria in late 1800’s. The lorgnette lenses are retracted manually and pushed-out mechanically via a small lever. This type of devices was invented in England by well know scientific instruments maker George Adams in late 1700’s and used by fashionable ladies as a piece of jewelry. The device length is 150 mm, and the diameter of the lenses is 36 mm.
