Zero Stock-Impressive 44 Inch Nine Draw Telescope Signed Adams London From Georgian Era
SOLD A scarce example of a big nine draw silver plated brass telescope signed “ADAMS’s New Patent Portable Telescope No 60 Fleet Street LONDON” from early 1800’s. The telescope is attributed to Dudley Adams the youngest member of Adams Family, well known Scientific Instruments Makers from 18th century. A second signature is present on the eye piece maybe made for one of the original owners.
The telescope is impressive, is ultra compact (7 inches closed ) and 44 inches open with a 50 mm object lens with tight brass draws and mahogany veneer cover. A small chip and a hole in the object lens is present (the small hole maybe was made to release the air from the telescope). Some of the silver plating was lost on a couple of draws and the second draw from the object lens is a bit snug. The telescope has excellent optics and focuses well pushing in and out the second draw close to the eye piece. Excellent addition to your scientific instruments collection.
