SOLD  This is a late 19th century pocket Expedition Barometer Altimeter compendium or weather station consisting in a silver altimeter dial, a small thermometer and excellent  compass. The barometer scale goes from 46-80 mm / hg (torr) and the altimeter scale ranges from zero to 4500 m adjusted by a bezel. The thermometer shows the temperature in Celsius degrees and goes from -30 C to 60 C. The wonderful silver faced compass has a on and off lock on the side and shows the direction of magnetic North well.The body of the device is made from chromed brass with minimal wear and tear. A small chip present inside the barometer crystal face The whole device comes in a well fitted leather and case. The device was made by the well known french scientific instruments maker Richard Freres Paris for Ecker Lucerne from Switzerland.

What makes this device rare is the high altitude range and the sensitivity of the dial which is just 10 m which is very hard to find for such a small device. Dimensions: 64 mm diameter and 43 mm thickness.The device is still showing differences in the barometric pressure and altitude variation.
