Zero Stock-Antique Pocket Barometer Compass Thermometer Compendium PHBN Paris France
This is an antique pocket barometer altimeter, thermometer and compass weather station used by explorers and travelers from late 1800s until early 1900s. On the back of the brass case of the barometer and compass are the initials of the well known barometer maker PHBN (Perthuis Hulot Bourgeois Naudet) Paris France. The three separate instruments are functional: the barometer scale goes from 46-78 torr or mm/mercury and the rotating altimeter scale ranges from zero to 4000 meters adjusted by the rotating bezel and calibrating screw behind the case. The thermometer shows the temperature in Centigrade degrees and goes from -20 C to 60 C. The wonderful compass has a nice locking knob situated on the side of the case, blue needle, a jewel stone and silvered face with French cardinals. The brown leather covered wood case has a green velvet and satin interior in excellent condition. Dimensions: 130 mm X 85 mm X 25 mm when closed.
