SOLD  Featured below is a rare example of genuine pocket sextant or "box sextant" used by explorers for navigation and surveying. This piece was made in the early 1900s  by the well-known scientific instrument maker Stanley from London. The sextant comes in an  anodized brass cylindrical body including: a vernier scale with fine markings (divided 0-140), index arm, one index and one horizon mirror, small round adjusting tool,  magnifying  glass and adjustable green and red filters. The original leather case is a bit dry due to the age. The screw-in telescope is missing however the sextant is functional the reading can be taken through the adjustable peephole.  Dimensions: 78 mm diameter and 40 mm height.

The device will make an excellent addition to your collection of early navigational instruments.
