SOLD Scarce example of early surveyors compact and light mountain transit made by well known maker A. Lietz Co. San Francisco in early 1900's before the big fire (low serial number 1065). The instrument has a lot of nice features, horizontal circle, 6 inch telescope with stadia hairs, 3 1/4 inch diameter compass face with variation ring, four leveling screws , 3 spirit levels, plumb bob, horizontal verniers. and is much smaller than average just 6 1/2 height and has aluminum and brass body (31 ounces). Dimensions of the mahogany case: 10 inches x 5 inches x 5 inches and combined weight 67 ounces. This device makes a very nice addition to your collection of early navigation , surveying instruments.
