Rare example of Impressive single draw tapered barrel ships telescope signed "JJ Messer London Imp'd Navy" form the last half of 1800's . The telescope has a long history of usage starting from Civil War era and ending to WW2 with a newer engraving located under the old one saying "US Navy 27572" most likely being made during WW2. This is a functional telescope in very good condition with smooth draw action and 50 mm object lens. The telescope has a nice patina with a few dents on the main barrel. Dimensions: 38 inches open, 29 inches closed. Excellent display item !!!
