This is a early 1900's  pocket Balloonist or Alpinist Barometer Altimeter compendium or weather station consisting in a silver plated barometer altimeter dial, two  thermometers  and a small compass made by the well know German scientific instruments maker Lufft. The barometer scale goes from 420 mm/ hg to 780 mm/hg and the altimeter scale ranges from zero to 5000 meters. The  interior thermometer shows the temperature in Celsius  degrees and goes from -15 C to 45. The compass is situated on the case and shows the direction of magnetic North. The second thermometer is tucked in the back of the wooden case and ranges from 0 C to 50 C. A few air bubbles present in the thermometer tube. The device comes with original instruction page for the French market.

The body of the device is made from gilded brass with minimal wear and tear. The whole device comes in a well fitted satin,  leather and wooden case in excellent condition

What makes this altimeter rare is the high altitude range of the dial which is very hard to find for such a small device.

The device is still showing differences in the barometric pressure and altitude variation.

The barometer is exactly as described. Everything works and it's just lovely. Also, it was EXTREMELY well wrapped and shipped on time.
